The LaBRI is a research unit associated with the CNRS (UMR 5800), the university of Bordeaux and Bordeaux INP. It has been a partner of Inria since 2002.
Its staff has grown significantly in recent years and can be considered as bringing together around 300 people, including 110 teacher-researchers (university of Bordeaux, Bordeaux INP), 40 researchers (CNRS, Inria), 20 administrative and technical staff (university of Bordeaux, Bordeaux INP, CNRS, Inria) and more than 100 doctoral students, post-doctoral students and contract engineers.
The LaBRI's missions are based on three main axes: research, training and transfer. The research carried out at the LaBRI is both fundamental and finalized. It targets the field of computer science in the broadest sense. Training is mainly done via the doctorate but also via dissemination actions for younger audiences. The transfer is achieved through collaborations with industrialists and also through the creation of startups.
The LaBRI is strongly anchored to its ecosystem. In particular, the support of the Regional Council of Aquitaine through the extension of the building, equipment and thesis and post-doctoral scholarships has been one of the essential bricks of its development.
